For schools that teach BJU Press
Place every applicant in your own BJU Press courses.
When you sit down with a family, “ready for Math 6” means something to everyone at the table, including the teacher who will open the book on Monday. Placement Genius reports each applicant’s placement in the BJU Press course names your teachers use, with every gap named as a skill and the course where your sequence teaches it.
For applicants entering grades 3–8, in math and language arts.
How the report speaks BJU Press
Math places in BJU Press course names, from Math 3 through Fundamentals of Math and Pre-Algebra. Language arts places in the set of BJU Press English, reading and spelling courses for each grade, named together.
You set your curriculum once, by subject and grade. If a grade runs a different program or level, you change that one grade, and the report follows what you actually teach.
| Grade | Math | Language arts |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | Math 3 | English 3 · Reading 3: Adventures in Reading · Spelling 3 |
| 4 | Math 4 | English 4 · Reading 4: Voyages · Spelling 4 |
| 5 | Math 5 | English 5 · Reading 5: Quests · Spelling 5 |
| 6 | Math 6 | Writing & Grammar 6 · Perspectives in Literature · Spelling 6 |
| 7 | Fundamentals of Math | Writing & Grammar 7 · Exploring Themes in Literature · Vocabulary Level A |
| 8 | Pre-Algebra | Writing & Grammar 8 · Making Connections in Literature · Vocabulary Level B |
Out of sequence is not the same as behind
Many of your applicants are public-school transfers. When a public school teaches a skill a year later than your BJU Press sequence does, a transfer who has not met it yet is out of sequence, not behind. The report keeps the two apart, and it uses the gentler wording only when it is true for the child.
That is the sentence a worried parent most needs to hear, and the card prints it in words you can say across the table, with a first-30-days plan for the skills to close.
How the BJU Press pack was built
It comes from BJU Press’s publicly published scope and sequence. It has not yet been checked in a pilot at a school that teaches BJU Press. Until it has, we ask your teachers to review the mapping with us before you rely on it.
Placement Genius is not affiliated with or endorsed by BJU Press or its publisher. The names above are used only to say which course a student is ready for.
See it in your own BJU Press courses
Request a pilot and we will run a sample applicant against your curriculum profile, so you can see the card in your own course names before your next family meeting.
