For schools that teach Abeka
Place every applicant in your own Abeka courses.
When you sit down with a family, “ready for Arithmetic 6” means something to everyone at the table, including the teacher who will open the book on Monday. Placement Genius reports each applicant’s placement in the Abeka course names your teachers use, with every gap named as a skill and the course where your sequence teaches it.
For applicants entering grades 3–8, in math and language arts.
How the report speaks Abeka
Math places in Abeka's course names, from Arithmetic 3 through Pre-Algebra. Language arts places in the set of Abeka language arts courses for each grade, named together the way your teachers order them.
You set your curriculum once, by subject and grade. If a grade runs a different program or level, you change that one grade, and the report follows what you actually teach.
| Grade | Math | Language arts |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | Arithmetic 3 | Language 3 · Spelling and Poetry 3 |
| 4 | Arithmetic 4 | God's Gift of Language 4 · Spelling, Vocabulary, and Poetry 4 |
| 5 | Arithmetic 5 | God's Gift of Language 5 · Spelling, Vocabulary & Poetry 5 |
| 6 | Arithmetic 6 | God's Gift of Language C · Spelling, Vocabulary, and Poetry 6 |
| 7 | Intermediate Mathematics | Grammar and Composition I · Vocabulary, Spelling, Poetry I · Of People |
| 8 | Pre-Algebra | Grammar and Composition II · Vocabulary, Spelling, Poetry II · Of Places |
Out of sequence is not the same as behind
Many of your applicants are public-school transfers. When a public school teaches a skill a year later than your Abeka sequence does, a transfer who has not met it yet is out of sequence, not behind. The report keeps the two apart, and it uses the gentler wording only when it is true for the child.
That is the sentence a worried parent most needs to hear, and the card prints it in words you can say across the table, with a first-30-days plan for the skills to close.
How the Abeka pack was built
It comes from Abeka’s publicly published scope and sequence. It has not yet been checked in a pilot at a school that teaches Abeka; the Abeka pack goes first. Until it has, we ask your teachers to review the mapping with us before you rely on it.
Placement Genius is not affiliated with or endorsed by Abeka or its publisher. The names above are used only to say which course a student is ready for.
See it in your own Abeka courses
Request a pilot and we will run a sample applicant against your curriculum profile, so you can see the card in your own course names before your next family meeting.
